In this state it flows into all surface irregularities, expels air from micro structures and creates full-area thermal contact between component and heat sink. The result is an extremely low thermal resistance — achieved reliably from the very first heat-up cycle.

Why is phase change material better than thermal grease?

Unlike thermal grease, phase change material is dry to the touch before assembly — eliminating smearing, uneven bondline thickness and dosing errors. Thermal grease must be applied as a liquid, is prone to pump-out under mechanical stress and requires precise application. PCM simplifies assembly significantly and delivers reproducibly low thermal resistance with process-reliable coating thicknesses.
